Yesterday the topic was faith without works. Did you understand what James is saying, and then it was reinforced in Matthew? Let us look at James 2:18 today.
James 2:18 King James Version (KJV) 18 Yea,
a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith
without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Take a look at Romans 3:27-28:
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Good deeds are important; they don't give us eternal life; we are saved by faith!! Faith is simply believing Jesus is God's son, sent to be crucified and shed His blood for our sins, and our acceptance of HIM - period!!
Saved by faith! Why faith? Faith alone: a. eliminates the pride of human effort (faith is not a deed we do); b. faith exalts what God has done, not what we do; c. faith admits that we can't keep the law or measure up to God's standards (we need help); d. faith is based on our relationship with God, not our performance for God.
Do you have F A I T H ?
